SCF seeks employees looking to be a part of a culture of service excellence in the following position of Adjunct Instructor, Philosophy for the Spring 2017 semester.An instructional faculty member will be responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in his/her particular discipline. The individual is expected to exercise professionalism and civility in all activities related to the role of academician, including those concerned with the various duties assigned, and any involvement with colleagues, peers, community and students.

Job Description

1. Prepares and delivers instruction to students in assigned modalities (including classroom, hybrid, online, etc.). Prepares instructional materials. Provides feedback on students’ progress, including evaluation of student mastery of course and program outcomes.

2. Provides feedback to students in matters related to academic success in a timely manner.

3. Prepares and submits required documentation including course syllabi, student attendance, final course grades, and other information as requested or required by the college. Maintains and disseminates current information pertaining to services available to students throughout the college.

4. Follow Student Learning Outcomes to ensure curriculum is consistent with the ADH mission.

5. Demonstrate an interrelatedness between artistic disciplines and cultural development.

6. Create and encourage an inclusive classroom environment.

7. Position is primarily for HUM 1020: Introduction to the Humanities

Minimum Qualifications

The position requires at least one of the following:

1. A Master’s Degree in Humanities (Intercultural or Interdisciplinary)

2. A Master’s Degree in one of the humanistic disciplines and 18 graduate semester hours in Humanities

3. A Master’s Degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in at least 2 of the following disciplines:
Anthropology, Art, Art History, Classics, English/Literature, World History, Humanities, Interdisciplinary Studies with Humanities Focus, Music, Philosophy, Religion/Theology, Theater, or Western/Eastern Civilization

Preferred Qualifications

Previous higher education teaching experience

Experience with classroom technology including Learning Management Software
